This mythical creature resembles a hare with deer horns. The symbol of a horned hare is quite old and has numerous mentions in the cultural legacy of various countries (see also Jackalope).

For me as a creator of this artwork, the working process was a bit unusual (or just different?) Last several months I drew large-scale artworks, so coming back to the A3 size of the paper was something that felt uneasy. 

I’ve noticed that after the dimensioned and ambitious works that occupied all my table, creating this Wolpertinger felt as if I drew just a miniature. I used ink liners of the smallest widths, 0.05 – 0.2. The paper sheet seemed to be too narrow and small to fit all the natural elements I wanted to gather together here. 

Indeed, I poured love into every tiny detail. Nature is amazing, and I was doing my best to convey this awe and admiration for every mushroom, small hollow on the horns and a blade of grass.

I think I will color this artwork digitally. Not now, but this year exactly :) It will look awesome in a stylized vintage range of shades. And also would be great to expand the series of wonderful fantasy creatures.
